Perfect Thai Jasmine or Basmati Rice


  • 1 cup Thai Jasmine or Basmati white rice

  • 1 ¼ cup water or broth

  • 2 bay leaves

  • avocado oil or butter

  • Sea salt

  • Dill, lemon juice or dried lemon peel


  • Heat saucepan over medium heat. Once hot, add some oil or butter.

  • When oil is shimmering, add dry rice and stir to coat. Continue stirring for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  • Add chosen liquid and 2 bay leaves. Bring to a boil.

  • Cover and reduce to simmer. Simmer for 18 minutes.

  • Remove from heat and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Then stir and add more butter and season with sea salt to taste.

  • Delicious variation: add fresh or dried dill and juice of ½-1 lemon

  • Et voila! Serve alongside your favorite dish.

  • Recipe is easily doubled.
